

Terms & Conditions
1) ABOUT US
Gadget Convert is currently operated as a sole trader (and may transition to a limited company in the future).
We are based in Swindon and provide local collection and postal trade-in services.
2) CHANGES TO THESE TERMS
We may update these Terms at any time by publishing an updated version on our website. The updated Terms apply from the time they are posted.
3) OUR SERVICE (WHAT WE DO)
We provide quotes to buy unwanted electronics and technology items including (but not limited to): phones, tablets, laptops, consoles, smartwatches, PCs/components, cameras, drones and most tech.
How it works:

You submit your device details (model/spec/condition) via our website, message, or agreed channel.

We provide an offer/quote.

If you accept, you arrange local collection or postage to us.
-
We inspect/test the device.
-
If the device matches your description, we pay you by bank transfer.
4) ELIGIBILITY
You must be 18 or older and legally able to enter into a contract to use our services.
5) ACCURACY & YOUR RESPONSIBILITIES
To sell a device to us, you must:
-
Provide true, accurate, and up-to-date information about yourself and the device.

Act on your own behalf (not for others unless legally authorised).

Comply with these Terms.

Ensure the device is legal to sell and is not stolen, counterfeit, or subject to finance/ownership disputes.
We may request photo ID and proof of ownership/purchase in certain situations (for example, high-value items or where additional verification is needed). If you do not provide what we reasonably request, we may cancel the transaction and return the item.
6) COLLECTION AREA
We offer free local collection in Swindon and surrounding areas up to 15 miles (subject to availability and any limits stated on the website at the time of booking).
7) DATA, ACCOUNTS & SECURITY (IMPORTANT)
You are responsible for removing personal data and security locks before handing over or posting your device. This includes:

Backing up your data
-
Signing out of all accounts (Apple ID/iCloud, Google, Samsung, Microsoft, etc.)
-
Removing screen locks/passcodes
-
Factory resetting the device where possible
-
Removing SIM cards and memory cards
We are not responsible for any data left on your device. Any SIM/memory cards or accessories left inside devices may be disposed of during processing and may not be recoverable.
8) ACTIVATION LOCKS / MDM (iCloud, Google FRP, Samsung, Management Profiles)
We do not buy:
-
iCloud/Activation Locked devices
-
Blacklisted phones
If a device arrives or is handed over with an activation lock / FRP / Samsung lock / MDM or management profile still enabled:
-
We will pause payment and contact you to remove the lock/profile.
-
You have 72 hours to remove the lock/profile (remotely or in-person where practical).
-
If the lock is not removed within 72 hours, we will cancel the transaction and return the device (see Section 11).
9) INSPECTION & TESTING
All devices are inspected and tested to confirm the device details match what you submitted.
Local collection inspections:
-
We aim to inspect/test locally in up to 30 minutes (often under 10 minutes).
Posted-in inspections:
-
We aim to inspect/test the same day of delivery where possible, otherwise within 24 hours.
If the device’s model/spec/condition does not match your description, we may revise the offer or cancel the transaction.
10) REVISED OFFERS (IF CONDITION DOESN’T MATCH)
If the device differs from the description provided, we will send a revised offer.
You have 72 hours to respond.
-
If you accept the revised offer, we proceed and pay accordingly.
-
If you reject it, we cancel and return your device for free (Section 11).
-
If you do not respond within 72 hours, we will cancel the transaction and return the device.
11) FREE RETURNS (TRACKED)
If the transaction is cancelled (including where you reject a revised offer or fail to respond), we will return your device free of charge using Royal Mail Tracked 24.
Returns will be sent to the original address used for collection/postage (we do not return to alternate addresses).
12) SHIPPING / PACKAGING & RISK IN TRANSIT (POSTED ITEMS)
If you post your device:
-
You are responsible for secure packaging and choosing appropriate tracked/insured postage.
-
You are responsible for loss or damage until the device is delivered to us.
We recommend using tracked and insured delivery for higher-value items.
13) QUOTE VALIDITY & SENDING DEADLINES
-
Quotes are valid for 7 days from the time they are issued (unless stated otherwise).
-
After accepting a quote, the device must be posted/handed over within 7 days.
-
If these time limits are missed, we may revise the offer based on current market value.
14) PAYMENTS
We pay by bank transfer only (no cheques, no cash payments unless separately agreed in writing).
Payment timing:
-
Local collection: same day as collection once inspection is passed.
-
Posted items: same day as delivery to us once inspection is passed.
Payment timing is subject to successful inspection, verification checks where needed, and bank processing times. You are responsible for providing correct bank details.
15) RIGHT TO REFUSE SERVICE
We may refuse service or cancel a transaction where reasonable, including (but not limited to) cases of:
-
abusive behaviour
-
repeated misrepresentation of device condition
-
suspicious activity or inability to verify required details
If cancelled, the device will be returned in line with these Terms.
16) LIMITATION OF LIABILITY
To the maximum extent permitted by law, we are not liable for:
-
indirect or consequential losses (including loss of profits)
-
any failure by you to remove data/accounts/locks
-
courier delays, damage, or loss for items posted by you until delivery to us
Nothing in these Terms limits liability where it would be unlawful to do so (including fraud, or death/personal injury caused by negligence).
17) GOVERNING LAW
These Terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales, and disputes are subject to the courts of England and Wales.
